Wichita’s chapter of the American Institute of Wine and Food is proud to bring you the 16th annual Midwest Beerfest Grand Tasting, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. May 21st at Wichita’s Century II EXPO Hall. MWBeerFest2016What event allows you to taste an amazing selection of craft beers around the world including an outstanding selection of microbrews from Kansas, vote for your favorite chicken wing and bid on Silent Auction items to benefit Wichita’s “Rails to Trails” — all while taking a “sip for a scholarship?” It’s Midwest Beerfest! To start your Beerfest weekend, join us on Friday, May 20, 2016 for one of our Beer & Food Lovers Beer Dinners. Choose from three amazing venues each hosting a stellar brewery. Guests will enjoy some of the finest American beers paired with spectacular food selected to celebrate and enhance the flavors of each brew. Dinners begin at 7 p.m. and the cost is $55 per person. New date; Join fellow brew-lovers and increase your beer knowledge from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, May 21, at EXPO Hall for a “big brew” adventure and help celebrate our 16th year of outstanding beers, delicious food and lots of fun, fun, fun. Doors open at 1 p.m. for the Grand Tasting and Silent Auction. Tickets for the Grand Tasting are $45 (inclusive of convenience fee) and can be purchased at Century II’sWichitaTix box office, by calling (316) 303-8100 or online at ww.wichitatix.com. Tickets entitle participants to a tasting mug, program guide and a key to the world of beers. Also look for non-beer drinks, an array of beer-friendly food, a brew-lover’s Silent Auction with the opportunity to win lots of great prizes, and music. The Silent Auction is a benefit for Prairie Travelers/Andover Augusta Rail Trail Initiative (AARTI.) The Grand Tasting will be opened by The Wichita Caledonian Pipes & Drums. This group of talented musicians are the premier performance and competition pipe band in south central Kansas. Since its founding in 2006 by members of the Wichita music community, WCPDB has quickly become a leader in honoring, teaching and sharing the spectacular legacy of traditional Highland Bagpipe music. Back by popular demand is the “MidwestWingfest,” a chicken wing Cook-off contest featuring chicken wings prepared by local restaurants and chefs. Admission to the tasting is $6 (with your admission to the Beerfest) and all proceeds will help Wichita, Andover and Augusta expand bike paths and trails. Your ticket entitles you to sample a number of different wings and vote for your “People’s Choice.” After great success last year, The Food Truck Round-up will once again be located at the south end of the building. You will have the opportunity to purchase food from some of your favorite food trucks with your Beerfest admission. The Midwest Beerfest, sponsored by the American Institute of Wine & Food, Wichita Chapter Inc, features craft beers, ales, lagers and more from your favorite breweries and microbreweries from around the world. Monies raised benefit the AIWF-Wichita Chapter’s 15th Anniversary Terry Palmer Memorial Culinary Scholarship Fund for local food and beverage students, chefs, or those in the food and beverage industry pursuing continuing education.
